Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge

Reflections – A Disney Lakeside Lodge, now rebranded as Disney Lakeshore Lodge, is a highly anticipated nature-inspired resort currently under construction at Walt Disney World, nestled between Fort Wilderness Resort & Campgrounds and Wilderness Lodge along the tranquil shores of Bay Lake. Originally announced in October 2018, this resort is envisioned as a celebration of Walt Disney’s lifelong love of nature, blending rustic charm with modern luxury in a serene lakeside setting.

 Origins & Vision

The resort was initially introduced as Reflections – A Disney Lakeside Lodge, designed to occupy the site of the former River Country water park, which closed in 2001. The concept aimed to honor Disney’s artistic heritage and the natural beauty of Florida, offering guests a peaceful retreat infused with storytelling and immersive design. It was slated to be the 16th Disney Vacation Club (DVC) property, but with recent developments, it will now become the 19th DVC resort, marking a significant expansion in Disney’s accommodations portfolio.

Construction & Current Status

After a lengthy pause due to the pandemic, construction quietly resumed in late 2024, and by early 2025, the project had gained momentum. As of February 2025:

  • The resort’s base structures have reached the second and third floors
  • Multiple cranes are active on-site
  • Construction is visible from Bay Lake, Wilderness Lodge, and the Settlement area of Fort Wilderness

The resort is expected to be a 10-story mixed-use development, similar in scale to Disney’s Riviera Resort, and will feature both standard hotel rooms and DVC villas.

Design & Accommodations

Disney Lakeshore Lodge is being billed as one of the most unique resorts ever built at Walt Disney World. Concept art and early announcements suggest a variety of novel accommodations:

  • Treehouse suites nestled among the forest canopy
  • A-frame waterfront cabins with panoramic lake views
  • Traditional hotel rooms with nature-inspired décor

These lodging options are designed to immerse guests in the surrounding environment while providing upscale amenities and comfort.

Dining & Recreation

While Disney has not released updated details, early plans included:

  • A Princess and the Frog-themed waterfront restaurant, possibly located “along the bayou of Bay Lake”
  • Lakeside dining with views of the water and surrounding forest
  • Recreational activities such as boating, nature trails, and campfire storytelling

These offerings aim to complement the resort’s tranquil atmosphere and provide guests with a rich, immersive experience rooted in Disney storytelling.

Opening Timeline & Future Outlook

Disney Lakeshore Lodge is projected to open in 2027, though Disney has yet to release new concept art or official updates beyond construction permits and filings. The resort is part of a broader wave of expansion, following the recent debut of the Island Tower at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort.
